Tony Renna Memorial Golf Tournament
The annual tournament brought racing fans, friends and the golf community together to remember Tony while supporting young people in his hometown.
Tony was a 1995 graduate of Father Lopez Catholic High School in Daytona Beach. Following his death, the school’s annual golf tournament was renamed in his honor. The event supported the Tony Renna Scholarship Fund at Father Lopez, the Tony Renna Memorial Foundation and school programs.
A lasting scholarship
At the first memorial event in 2004, organizers described the purpose simply: Tony’s name would remain on a scholarship helping a student attend the school, with his family participating in the selection. Members of the Renna family, his fiancée Debbie Savini and friends from the racing community gathered to celebrate his life.
Fifth annual tournament
The original site recorded the fifth Tony Renna Memorial Golf Tournament at Pelican Bay Country Club in April 2008. The tournament continued the work of turning remembrance into an enduring opportunity for students.
